Interior House Painting

More likely than not, we are working in homes and spaces that our customers are still living in. That is why we take extra care when painting interior spaces that we follow precise steps to protect existing furniture and property.  On the day we begin, the very first thing is to ensure that:

  • All furniture is moved to the center of the room and completely covered
  • All floors are well covered with dropcloths

Prep Work:

A properly prepped surface ensures an even smooth coat of paint that lasts.  The steps to our prep process include:

  • All surfaces to be painted are cleaned, washed and wiped down
  • Walls are gently scuff-sanded to help paint adhesion
  • Any existing holes or cracks are filled in and smoothed
  • Watermarks or stains are first sealed with high quality mold-resistant sealants
  • Trim tape applied where necessary

Additional Prep Services:

  • Wallpaper removal
  • Removing adhesives from walls that had wallpaper
  • Compound, Sanding and smoothing faulty wall surfaces
  • Scraping popcorn ceilings, and removing textured finishes

Painting Surfaces:

  • Depending on the space and surface, interiors may be sprayed or cut and rolled which we can go over in detail during the consultation.
  • All surfaces will get two coats of high quality paint of the clients choice
  • Any necessary touch-ups will be done before doing the final walkthrough with the client.

Every North Light Painting project begins with a free home estimate. A North Light Painting representative will come out to your home and walk through your project with you step-by-step.   We will bring a color deck to help you pick colors, schedule a time to do test patches on your house and set an estimated start date to paint your house.

1-2 days before the project begins we will power wash your home in order to clean the surface of dirt, grime and other clutter.  This will clean up the house and prepare the surface to better receive a new coat of paint.

In our opinion, the preparation is the most important part of the job and this is where we separate ourselves from other contractors. Prepping the house well makes a huge difference in the longevity of the paint job. We will do all the necessary caulking, scraping, sanding, masking, priming, wire brushing and puttying that needs to be done on your home to ensure that you receive a quality paint job.  At your free home consultation one of our representatives will explain in detail what we will do to prep your home.

Clients may choose to have the exterior paint applied by sprayer or by roller/brush.  These two different processes will be explained at the consultation to ensure the best application is chosen for each job.

The final step in the project is hand brushing the trim on your house. We use a thicker paint for this to make sure that the trim lasts as long as the siding.

Once the project is completed, before collecting final payment, a final walk around will be completed with the homeowner to make sure all necessary touch ups are done and that you are completely satisfied with your job!
